The Civics End Of Course (EOC) Exam is fast approaching! We have begun to prepare for the exam in class and I wanted to fill you in on all the details.
Please be reminded, that the Civics EOC exam is a requirement for every 7th grader in the state. The EOC does not have an opt-out option. The EOC counts as 30% of a student’s final grad. As you can see, this is an important part of your child’s academic year, so I ask that you assist them with organizing, preparing, and studying as much as possible over the next 4 weeks.
The exam will be taking place on May 13th. In order to properly prepare for the exam, students will be required to study a minimum of 20 minutes 4 days a week until the exam. Each week students will receive a log sheet to track their daily progress. I ask that you initial these daily. Log sheets will be collected weekly and will count as formative grades.
CIVICS EOC BOOTCAMP: Saturday, May 10th 9 – 12PM (optional, flyer goes home in April)
Students will benefit from studying the index cards we are creating in class, but a variety of other tools and resources are available to help keep them focused and enthusiastic about the material. The following items can all be used during daily study time over the next 4 weeks:
